Even Google can’t resist making fun of flat-earthers

Humans discovered that the world is spherical 2,000 years ago. It’s been a generally-accepted and easily-provable fact for so long that it’s hard to imagine how anyone can still believe otherwise, but here we are. It’s 2018 and flat-earthers still occasionally make it to the headlines with announcements like “Australia isn’t real“, or by blasting off in homemade rockets to prove that the world is shaped like a frisbee.

It turns out even Google—or someone working for the company— couldn’t resist the urge to poke fun at flat-earthers. They pulled a subtle yet hilarious prank that will surely tickle anyone who believes in basic science.

If you input the phrase “I am a flat-earther” on Google Translate and ask for its French translation, you’ll get “Je suis un fou”:

Translate that phrase back into English and this is what you get:

Nice job, Google.
