Ang Buhay ni Rizal Ayon Kay Imuthis is a theatrical play featuring the most promising actors of the University of the Philippines Manila. It is directed by a fellow student, Mitzi Dennice Gamboa, taking up Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Arts of the said university. The play was written by a comedian and former child actor, Ryan “Atong” Redillas, a Philippine Arts Teacher of the same university.
The story revolves around a group of teenagers who enter a haunted house and encounter Imuthis, a mysterious statue that comes to life. The mystical talking head Imuthis was taken from one of Rizal’s famous novels entitled El Filibusterismo where it was used to scare Padre Salvi.
As we look back in the past, it is time to recount Philippine history in a new light as Imuthis depicts the life story of Jose Rizal—from his birth to his death, giving highlight to the important paradoxes in the life of our national hero. This story seeks to challenge its audience by rekindling their patriotism and heroism, especially to the youth of today. The play is certain to provide vital lessons of honor, integrity, fortitude, and love. It is a theatrical masterpiece that will surely provide its audience learning, laughter, drama, music, enchantment, and mystery that will cater to Filipinos of all ages.
