After a year-long search and a few bumps in the road when certain issues followed the upcoming live-action remake, Disney finally found its “Mulan”.
Chinese actress Liu Yifei, also known as Crystal Liu, has been cast to play the female warrior who changed the typical damsel in distress streak in Disney’s line of princesses.
Liu is known to many Filipinos as “DaDa” for her role in the 2006 Chinese series “The Return of the Condor Heroes”. She also worked alongside Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the 2008 fantasy action film “The Forbidden Kingdom”.
She’s everything Disney is looking for in someone who’ll portray Mulan. With her superb martial arts and acting skills, fluency in speaking English (and Mandarin of course), fans couldn’t be happier for having a Mulan we deserve.
