Miss May I The Shadows Inside Asia Tour invades Manila

MISS MAY I is invading Manila on December 7, 2017 at the Skydome, SM North EDSA, as PULP LIVE WORLD brings you MISS MAY I SHADOWS INSIDE ASIA TOUR 2017 Live in Manila. This marks the first time the metalcore titans are coming to the Philippines. Supporting the band will be like-minded local metalcore act Valley of Chrome, who are one of the pioneers of the genre in the local music scene.

Since releasing their debut EP Vows for a Massacre in 2007, vocalist Levi Benton, lead guitarist B.J. Stead, rhythm guitarist Justin Aufdemkampe, drummer Jerod Boyd, and bassist Ryan Neff have been consistently releasing top-notch metalcore albums filled to the brim with fistpumping moshpit anthems, all of which have found respectable positions in the Billboard 200, Billboard Top Seekers, and the Independent Albums Chart. With hits like “Hey Mister,” “I.H.E.,” and “Shadows Inside,” they have become one of the leading voices in the international metalcore scene.

With already ten years in existence, the band is still going strong. Their latest album, Shadows Inside, was released in June 2, 2017. It is their first release under their new home SharpTone Records after leaving their previous label Rise Records. In an interview with The Aquarian Weekly writer Maria Shields, Benton confirmed that the album is “an ode to change, good and bad, and events happening through life.” Benton said:

“We went through so much change in the last few years; we had a lot of stuff behind the scenes, switching our team, a lot of good but a lot of bad. We’ve done this our whole lives on tour, and have spent so much time together over the years. I don’t think the theme even meant to come off like that, but so many changes have happened the past couple of years, signing a new record deal, all of that stuff, we sat there and thought, “Man, what is this record really about?” That’s it; all the stuff we’ve gone through in the past, and it’s really cool that it’s coming out now because I can look back in 50 years and remember and reflect on the stuff that influenced this album.”

With undeniable sonic similarities and the same amount of influence within our shores, Valley of Chrome is the perfect fit to open for Miss May I. The band – which consists of vocalist Rogel Africa, guitarist Kaloi Cambaliza, guitarist Tatel Marcelino, bassist Jordan Constantino, and drummer Paul Eusebio – was formed in 2000 in Los Baños, Laguna. The band paid their dues in the underground scene before getting a record deal with Viva Records in 2004, and then switching to Tower of Doom Records in 2007. The band has come a long way since their humble beginnings. Having played major productions in and outside the country, and with seven albums under their belt – and another one coming soon – the band is now considered to be one of the biggest names in local heavy metal.

It looks like Filipino metalcore fans are getting their Christmas presents early this year.
