Leni Robredo’s hacked X account attempts to promote cryptocurrency

In a February 17 Facebook post, former Vice President Leni Robredo announced that her X (formerly Twitter) account had been hacked.

She warned her followers to “ignore all posts” while she tried to regain control of her profile.

The latest post on Robredo’s X account, was evidently telling that it was hacked because the post was trying to dupe her followers into using crypto currency. “As a human rights lawyer and politician, I’ve spent my career advocating for fairness and integrity and I believe those principles should extend to crypto,” it said.

The hacker was trying to promote the launch of “Solana community,” a blockchain platform within the crypto community.

The alarming incident also probed Robredo’s daughter, Aika to post a similar warning on her X account. She reiterated, “The tweet below is not hers [Leni’s]. Her team is currently working on regaining access.”

Robredo has never dabbled in matters regarding cryptocurrency. It could be alleged that her hacked account was a part of the uptick in cryptocurrency schemes within the country.

As of writing, the hacked post could no longer be found in Robredo’s official X account. But, an announcement is yet to be made by Robredo and her team whether they have successfully retrieved and gained access to her account.
