Filipino professional voice-over artist and content creator Inka Magnaye shared her frustration on a Facebook post after she claimed to be “sabotaged” by unknown people spreading false information about her professional rates for a live voice-over (VO) event.
Magnaye claimed that these people allegedly told some of her clients that she charges five hundred thousand pesos as part of her talent fee. She clarified that, “This is absolutely false information,” and that she has never charged such an excessive amount even at the span of her whole career. Magnaye pointed out that her fees are always negotiable depending on the client’s budget and workload.
In the comment section, a user wrote, “Honestly, even if you charge that much, it’ll definitely be worth it. I mean, I won’t be surprised if your value is that much and if I have the money, why NOT? That’s THE Inka Magnaye after all. It’d be such an honor to have your voice live in an event.”
Even though grateful for the people’s support, Magnaye clarified in reply to the same comment, “I love and respect the craft and the industry to overprice myself simply because of my name. Again, our rates are on the higher end of reasonable.”
Social media users showed their support for Magnaye and the value of her craft, and one user who had previously worked with Maganaye testified against the rumors.
Previously, Magnaye also voiced her concern for VO projects that cost five thousand pesos and below. She emphasized that accepting projects with an unjustifiable minimal cost devalues VO professionals and artists like her.
Simply, for voice-over artists like Inka, it is crucial to stay within the boundaries of reasonable talent fee charges that equate to the value of their job and workload.
A seasoned VO artist herself, Magnaye rose to fame online for her voice-over content now with 2.4 million followers on TikTok. She was also best known for lending her voice to the flag carrier, Philippine Airlines for its in-flight safety announcement. Given her soothing voice, Magnaye has also started a bedtime ASMR podcast titled ‘Sleeping Pill with Inka.’
