SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan and Wonwoo exude an alluring and mysterious aura in their unit debut, ‘THIS MAN’

Did all the CARATs scream in unison after the SEVENTEEN Jeonghan x Wonwoo sub-unit debuted? Yes, maybe.

SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan and Wonwoo (styled as JxW) made their much-awaited debut on June 17, 2024, with their 1st Digital Single Album, ‘THIS MAN.” They are the second sub-unit from SEVENTEEN to officially debut, following BSS in March 2018.

‘THIS MAN’ features 3 tracks—“Beautiful Monster,” a solo song from Jeonghan, “Leftover,” a solo song from Wonwoo, and the lead single “Last Night (Guitar by Park Joo-won).” All of the tracks credit SEVENTEEN’s Woozi as producer and compositor.

Last Night (Guitar by Park Joo-won)” is described by Rolling Stone as “a clever blend of delicate acoustic guitar – played by the celebrated South Korean musician Joo-won Park – and thumping, club-ready electro pop.” The track—and the entire album per se, is said to have been inspired by an urban legend where a man appears in people’s dreams.

The music video for “Last Night” sees Jeonghan and Wonwoo portraying opposites—with Jeonghan playing the part of the man putting people to sleep and Wonwoo waking them up from their slumber. The music video, albeit for a few seconds, also saw the manhwa depictions of Jeonghan and Wonwoo, much to the surprise of fans.

CARATs were definitely quick to share their reactions to Jeonghan and Wonwoo’s sub-unit debut and were also raving about the aesthetics and intricacies of the music video.

The release of “THIS MAN” precedes SEVENTEEN’s busy schedule in Europe in the upcoming months—beginning with the group’s visit to Paris on June 26, 2024, as UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassadors for Youth. SEVENTEEN will also make an appearance in two European music festivals (history in the making, tbh)—the Glastonbury Festival and later in Lollapalooza Berlin.

SEVENTEEN also confirmed in an iHeartRadio interview that they will begin touring stadium tours real soon.
