Nicholas Galitzine shares BTS, One Direction served as inspirations for his role in ‘The Idea of You’

The 29-year-old American actor Nicholas Galitzine wowed audiences with his singing and acting in films like Cinderella (2021) with pop singer Camila Cabello, and Purple Hearts with Sofia Carson. Now, the actor has added another achievement to his stardom with his newest film, “The Idea of You,” together with Anne Hathaway where he portrays Haye Campbell, a vocalist from fictional boy band, August Moon.

It is not new for the actor to portray roles with singing, which is why it was no surprise that directors would cast him in films that showcased this, such as in Cinderella (2021) that cemented his name in the Hollywood scene.

However, Nicholas Galitzine that he was challenged to portray a role that he might not be very good at. In the podcast with “Just for Variety,” the actor admitted that although he can sing, dancing for him is a different conversation, and that is what made this particular film a little more challenging yet exciting for him. “I always reiterate: I am not a dancer. I tried my best over having a few weeks of rehearsal, but these are skills that are honed for the majority of people’s lives. And my boy band members are all professional dancers.”

Since Galitzine isn’t very familiar with dancing and performance, he mentioned using boy bands as references to do justice to his role in the film. BTS, a Korean boy group, and One Direction, inspired him to bring Haye Campbell to life.

“We wanted to make this band feel approachable. We purposefully didn’t dress them in flashy clothes. We looked at the way One Direction, NSYNC, BTS presented themselves at different points of their careers to create a conglomeration of all of these legendary boybands,” he stated.
