An innovative Spanish language textbook tailored for Filipino learners is being developed through a pioneering cooperation between the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the University of the Philippines’ Department of European Languages (UP-DEL).
The textbook, the first of its kind in the Philippines, would be a context-sensitive, culturally responsive, open-access digital resource that would function as both a textbook and a workbook for Spanish language instructors and students.
“We are honored to contribute to the development of this innovative language textbook, which will undoubtedly benefit future Spanish language learners and enrich their educational experience,” stated TESDA Director General, Secretary Suharto Mangudadatu.
Secretary Mangudadatu also expressed appreciation for TESDA’s involvement in the project and praised UP-DEL’s efforts. He promised the development team that TESDA would continue to assist them.
The National Language Skills Center (NLSC) would be in charge of verifying the textbook to ensure its content was in line with the agency’s Spanish course curriculum.
Once completed, the textbook would be available digitally and open-access, with free online access and the option to print for a charge of P250. TESDA would give free access to its Spanish instructors and students and help promote the textbook.
Secretary Mangudadatu expressed excitement about future cooperation to advance Spanish language education.
TESDA will offer the Spanish Language for Different Vocations course, with a thorough 100-hour program for 25 days.
The partnership between TESDA and UP-DEL representsa significant advancement in language teaching in the Philippines, intending to provide students with the linguistic abilities and cultural awareness needed to succeed in today’s interconnected world.
