A frightful incident unfolded in India when a tech CEO died following a fall at a company event.
Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah, who hails from the Chicago area, and company president Raju Datla, fell in front of a crowd of 700 people that were gathered at the Ramoji Film City Studios in Hyderabad, India for celebrating the tech company’s 25 years in business.
The iron cage they were in was supposed to be lowered slowly, but that was not the case. They were launched up 20 feet in the air when the chain supporting the cage snapped on one side. Datla is reportedly in critical condition due to a severe head injury.

Shah was then treated at the hospital for his injured leg and hand but then died afterwards.
Vistex was founded by Shah back in 1999. It is a multinational software company based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and has grown to have 20 offices around the world. Some of their most prominent clients include General Motors and Coca-Cola.
In a report made by Times of India, Visitex has since filed a complaint to the police over the lack of safety measures at the venue, and police officers are investigating.
The tech company has then released a statement that read, “The company’s heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with Sanjay’s family and all those who knew Sanjay in both professional and personal capacities. Sanjay Shah was an extraordinary leader whose presence permeated the working life of every associate and colleague at Vistex. His leadership and presence were truly unique; Sanjay will be sorely missed by all. At this time, our focus is on mourning Sanjay. Further communication will be provided after the official mourning period is over.”
