Mark Tuan showcases his ‘Other Side’ during his first solo concert in Manila

GOT7’s hyung and main rapper, Mark Tuan, dazzled Ahgases with his first-ever solo concert and astounding stage performances on “The Other Side” tour at Skydome, SM North EDSA on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Everyone could not stop gushing over the fact that they would be seeing Mark Tuan again, breathing the same air, and embarking on his new journey for being a solo artist with his debut independent album.

The show opened with Mark Tuan’s special guest, Weswes (@wesdaboy), a Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter from California. The artist energized the crowd with his amazing hosting and opening song performance, including “3AM,” followed by “Jose Cuervo,” “Used to/Stick Around,” and “Rainforest.”

At 6:30 pm, Mark Tuan’s radiant presence filled the crowd with loud screams and mesmerizing AHGABONGs (Ahgase’s lightstick). He then started his stage with “After Hours Interlude” and “Save Me” from his album “The Other Side.”

He elevated the spectacular concert scene even further with another performance, but this time, with an impressive band and two backup dancers accompanying him to perform “change up” and “exhausted” from the same album.

After the opening performances of Mark, he took time to explain the real essence of his first solo concert “The Other Side,” making the crowd more enlightened.

“Even though we’re on stage we may seem perfect, we may seem happy but we still go through all of these emotions that you guys do. That’s what ‘The Other Side’ is about,” Mark openly said.

After delivering the heartwarming message, the crowd collectively let out a prolonged “aww,” expressing sympathy and admiration for his openness to the fans.

Mark Tuan also shared with Ahgases that his first solo concert tour was intentionally and vulnerably manifesting his “Other Side.” This was meant to help the followers understand that they also have this “side,” highlighting that they are only human beings who go through the same emotions as everyone else.

Following the heartwarming messages, he went back on track by hopping on another music setlist such as “Far Away,” “Last Breath,” “let u go,” and “my life.”

Right after the performance of his emotional track “my life,” Mark told the crowd another message that left the fans with teary eyes.

“Step back and think about yourself and just do what you wanna do,” said Mark, highlighting the vulnerable message of “my life.”

Fans then teased him to “shot [puno]” the beverage on stage, which seemed to be alcohol. He then drank it as requested by Ahgases and made a face, indicating that the drink was quite strong. Afterward, he resumed the performance with “Fallin'” and “Your World.”

Furthermore, in between the performances, Mark Tuan expressed his love and gratitude for the other members of the band, GOT7. He asked the fans if they attended other members’ individual concerts, with them responding consecutively with “yes!” He also assured that their bond as a group still remains strong, and they continue to communicate with each other. Simultaneously, he apologized for taking so long to come back to Manila, creating a deafening noise at the Skydome.

At the latter part of the concert, Ahgases surprised Mark with an emotional video containing his journey as an artist and heartwarming messages from the fans.

The emotional video shared by the fans was also intended to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of GOT7 as a K-pop boy band on Monday, January 16, 2024. With that, Mark expressed his gratitude for the surprise and the love he continuously receives from the passionate fans of him and his band.

To close the show, Mark requested the fans to stand up for the last few songs including “One in a Million,” “my name,” “This is Everything,” and “imysm.”

He officially ended it up with a few photo ops and a sincere bow with the band and back-up dancers.

He also assured fans that he will return. “I promise, I’ll be back,” he stated. “We’re getting old together, you should not stress too much about the future and live in the present,” he continued.

The event was made possible by PULP.
