Otakus will surely be thrilled this film will be shown on this side of the world.
Japanese animated film In This Corner of the World by Sunao Katabuchi will be shown in Philippine theaters this June through Rafaella Films International.
The film is based on a manga by Fumiyo Kono called To All The Corners Of The World (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni). It depicts the story of Suzu Urano, a newlywed who had to move to Kure City to begin a new life with her husband. Director Sunao Katabuchi describes her as someone with great imagination and a talent for drawing. She illustrates a woman who is always smiling despite the shortages and hardships experienced during the war.
In This Corner of the World won the Hiroshima Peace Film Award at the Hiroshima International Film Festival last November, 2016. It has been named by Kinema Jump as the Best Japanese Movie of 2016 and gave Katabuchi the Best Director Award. It also bagged the Japanese Movie Award of Excellence and the Noburou Oofuji Award at the 71st Mainichi Film Awards.
This inspirational film will show you that ultimately love, courage, and family are stronger than the horrors of war. So better not miss it!
