It’s hasn’t even been a week yet, but here we are, strong with the hype over the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).
Just arrived last July 7, fans are speculating the meaning behind the ‘From The Vault’ tracks – those tracks that didn’t make it in the original version in 2010.
Some of the ‘From The Vault’ were collaborations from our other childhood music heroes in the 2010s-era like Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Fall Out Boy.
But the track that most of the fans were hooked on was on the track titled ‘When Emma Falls In Love’ – the 18th track on the album. A lot of fans are asking about who this Emma is that she is singing about. The first theory that came up is that this track is about Emma Stone’s relationship with Andrew Garfield.
Stone and Garfield met way back in 2010 – the same year when the original version of Speak Now was released. They had publicly dated for five years. In those five years, they both co-starred in The Amazing Spider-Man duology. They broke up in 2015.
“When Emma falls in love, she calls up her mom / Jokes about the ways that this one could go wrong / She waits and takes her time / ‘Cause Little Miss Sunshine always thinks it’s gonna rain,” Swift sings in the track, which fans thought could be referring to Stone for a number of reasons.
One of the highlighted things that made this theory stronger is the reference to “Little Miss Sunshine.” It can be remembered that in the 2010 film Easy A, there’s a scene where Stone is dancing to the tune of Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Pocketful of Sunshine. In an interview, Andrew Garfield had referred to that scene in which she likened the actress to ‘sunlight’.
However, some fans aren’t buying this theory. One of the reasons cited is that the album was released way before Stone and Garfield started dating.
Here are some of the fans’ theories:
“She came in and she was like a shot of espresso, she’s like being bathe in sunlight. She’s incredibly energetic and enthusiastic and she had this sense of play and fun which was incredibly exciting.” – Andrew Garfield about Emma Stone pic.twitter.com/YSnFazDwvR
