Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus 3’ is now in the works

Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production president Sean Bailey shared that the third “Hocus Pocus” film from Disney is now in the works.

Avid fans of Disney, especially those who grew up watching films and shows of the company, would know or remember “Hocus Pocus.”

“Hocus Pocus” is a Disney movie that was released in 1993. The cast of this classic movie includes Bette Midler (Winifred), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah), Kathy Najimy (Mary), Omri Katz (Max), Vinessa Shaw (Allison), and many more.

The film revolves around the story of a boy, Max, his sister, and the return of three 17th-century witches.

After a long time, a sequel for this film was made and was released last year. “Hocus Pocus 2” premiered in 2022 and also included young actresses Whitney Peak (Becca) and Belissa Escobedo (Izzy) along with Midler, Parker, and Najimy.

This sequel, on the other hand, follows the story of how the two young women brought back the terrifying Sanderson Sisters by accident in the present-day Salem.

“Hocus Pocus 2” was directed by Anne Fletcher with Jen D’Angelo, Blake Harris, and David Kirschner as the writers. After the premier of the sequel last year, D’Angelo said that she was hoping for a third installment, according to a report.

“But I’m hoping in ‘Hocus Pocus 3,’ we’ll see Max and Alison living in California,” D’Angelo said.

In a profile published by The New York Times, Bailey, the man behind Disney’s great remake operation, said that a new “Hocus Pocus” movie is in development.

Aside from that, he added that “The Lion King”, which is another classic film from Disney, may possibly turn into a saga. Bailey said that there is a lot of room for them to run if they can find the stories.

Even though there is nothing official that has been said, it was said that restarting the popular set of films “Pirates of the Caribbean” is also a priority. Bailey said they think that they have a very good and exciting story that honors the movies that have come before but have new things to say at the same time.

The news about the “Hocus Pocus 3” being in the works received mixed reactions from Twitter users. While many are happy to hear the news that a new movie is in the works, there are others who believe that there is no need for a new one.

“Hocus pocus 2 ended pretty perfectly…….Disney really need to start investing their time and money into new productions,” an online user said in a tweet.

“The second one was cute but the ending felt perfectly wrapped up,” another online user tweeted. “Don’t see how this will go tbh,” the user added.
