Nintendo Switch releases its newest ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Tears of Kingdom’ action-adventure game

Zelda fans, the long wait has come to an end!

Developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch, the much-anticipated installment of the epic action-adventure game “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”, has been released.

On May 12, the game arrived on Nintendo Switch, at a cost of $69.99, the first-ever party Nintendo Switch game to hold a higher-than-usual price. A $129.99 collector’s edition that includes a physical copy of Tears of the Kingdom, an Iconart steel art book, a poster, a SteelBook case, and four pins is also available for order. To get a discount, Switch online members can avail pre-purchased game vouchers from the eshop that cost $100 for two games. The said vouchers can be used with Tears of the Kingdom orders, with a discount of $20 equal to its digital version when you purchase another full-price game.

“The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” is the most-awaited follow up to the megahit “Breath of the Wild”, which has sold more than 125 million units and around 30 million copies since 2017. Meanwhile, the sequel was believed by many to be one of Nintendo’s 2023 game giants. First announced in 2019, “Tears of the Kingdom” started as a mystery until a few trailers revealed that Link will be soaring through the skies and dealing with Ganondorf’s return. Similar to “Breath of the Wild”, the game is situated in a vast open world. The difference is that, “Tears of the Kingdom” is filled with floating islands and destinations in the skies — more like a throwback to the flight-focused Zelda: Skyward Sword. The characters, Link and Zelda, uncover a buried horror under Hyrule that causes cataclysmic shifts, and Zelda disappears in a sudden flash. Your quest to look for her will involve visiting dozens of cities and hidden places.

According to GfK, an AI-powered consulting platform, “Tears of the Kingdom” is Nintendo’s second biggest release in UK history based on generated revenue, after 2008’s Wii Fit.
