Harry Styles just sparked rumors about a possible One Direction reunion when he posted a selfie wearing an old 1D shirt, via Instagram stories.
The black t-shirt was from the boy bands’s 2012 Up All Night tour featuring his former bandmates Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik.
He clarified the details around the mysterious selfie incident on Tuesday, during his sold-out concert at the Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.
The Grammy winner said that he posted the picture by “accident” after taking it for himself.
‘Maybe, like some people, you want to keep something to yourself.. and maybe one day you will accidentally post it to your Instagram Story,’ he laughingly said as the New Zealand crowd went wild.
plzzzzz he knows what he has done
Things are unclear whether he accidentally posted the photo or he meant to send it to his close friends. The selfie was immediately deleted to stop the speculation of a 1D reunion but the damage was already done, with fans taking a quick screenshot and quickly circulating the photo across the web.
With the deletion of the picture, this led to hashtags #TheShirt and #HeDeletedIt trending across different social media platforms.
The hitmaker gave a shout out to his fellow bandmates in One Direction last month as he accepted the honor for British Artist of the year at the 2023 BRIT Awards in London.
“I want to thank my mum for signing me up for X Factor without telling me, so I literally wouldn’t be here without you,” he said.
“I want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam, and Zayn because I wouldn’t be here without you either. Thank you so much,” the singer added.
Niall and Liam also let out congratulatory posts for their former bandmate.
It can be remembered that One Direction announced hiatus back in early 2016, months after Zayn Malik announced departure from the band.
Are we getting a 1D reunion anytime soon? That’s uncertain. Are we enjoying these interactions? Definitely yes.
