BLACKPINK’s Jennie goes to Hollywood with The Weeknd’s ‘The Idol’

The cat’s out of the bag: BLACKPINK member Jennie has been confirmed to appear in the HBO TV Series by The Weeknd, The Idol.

While the BLACKPINK star’s appearance had already been confirmed in the TV series’ trailer, HBO decided to take it up a notch and tweeted their own confirmation of the news, with the caption: “Jennie Kim has been cast in #THEIDOL”.

Later on the 19th, YG Entertainment released their own statement, announcing that Jennie will be making her acting debut in the American TV series. Jennie’s thoughts and feelings were also included in this statement, with the BLACKPINK member saying that as soon as she read the script, she had found it “attractive” that she wanted to join the cast immediately. Knowing that it is her first ever acting stint, Jennie said that she was “excited” and that she will do her best.

Jennie will be joining Lily-Rose Depp, The Weeknd, Troye Sivan, and others in the TV series’ line-up. The Idol is described as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood” between a rising pop idol (Depp) and a self-help guru and cult leader (The Weeknd).

BLINKs everywhere around the world have already been anticipating the BLACKPINK member’s appearance in the American TV Series ever since it had been rumored for over a month ago. Jennie is also the first Korean idol to star in an American TV series, so BLINKs are obviously over the moon for it.

We seriously can’t wait to see the Jennie Kim in an American TV series!
