Iconic funk group, KC and the Sunshine Band, turned the Smart Araneta Coliseum into a huge dance floor last Wednesday night, September 14.
The band performed in Manila as part of their concert tour for their latest single, We Belong Together. Harry Wayne Casey, more popularly known as KC, said that he wrote the song to remind people that, amidst all the chaos and problems that the world is encountering right now, “…we belong, we belong together.”
At 65, KC (Harry Wayne Casey) showed great vigor and energy as he performed the band’s hits: Shake Your Booty, I’m Your Boogie Man, Get Down Tonight, Please Don’t Go, and Keep It Coming Love among others.
The crowd, comprised mainly of adults, went on full disco mode with the upbeat and groovy sounds of That’s The Way (I Like It), Give it Up, and their massive 1974 hit, Rock Your Baby. People bolted out of their seats and shook their booties like the disco era never ended as KC and the Sunshine Band belted out their unique mix of R&B and funk.
It was indeed a groovy night for everybody in attendance. The crowd kept shouting, “More, more, more!” by the end of the show. Let’s give it up for KC and the Sunshine Band for a night like no other!
