Per Deadline, driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) centers around Rodrigo’s journey of writing and making her first full-length album, ‘SOUR’. The film also follows Rodrigo on a road trip from Salt Lake City—where she started recording the album—to Los Angeles.
“I think I just wanted to tell people what was going on in the back of my head in a way that was proud and not ashamed,” Rodrigo said of ‘SOUR’ in the teaser. She added, “Coming from this place of hurt and you managed to turn it into something you’re proud of, it’s like—nothing better than that.”
Directed by Stacey Lee and produced by Interscope Films and Supper Club, driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) includes new song arrangements and never-before-seen footage from the making of ‘SOUR’. English musician Jacob Collier, bass player Blu DeTiger, and TikTok star Towa Bird will also appear in the film for special performances.
driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) is set to premiere on March 25.
Rodrigo first teased about driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) on February 17 where she posted a short clip with ‘happier’ playing in the background. Because of this cryptic post, several fans thought that she’d release a music video for ‘happier’, or a deluxe version of ‘SOUR’, or perhaps a new track. But little did they know, they were in for a much sweeter treat.
