Genshin Impact’s 2.5 update gets overshadowed by leaks of future patch

Yeah, Genshin Impact 2.5 just dropped, but can the next month come any faster?

Chinese game developer miHoYo released Genshin Impact’s newest 2.5 update on February 16, 2022, which featured the much anticipated limited 5-star character, Yae Miko, two new story quests, a new world boss, two new weapons, new events, and more.

Fans have been more than enthusiastic to finally see the playable release of Yae Miko, an Electro-vision catalyst user who is known as Guuji (Chief Priest) of the Grand Narukami Shrine and owner of the Yae Publishing House. After being introduced in version 2.0 as a non-playable character, fans of the game have been looking forward to seeing her in action.

And finally after being stuck in beta for 4 patches, Yae Miko is now playable and everyone has been loving her kit and quest.

But, Genshin Impact’s latest release was completely (this is intentional) overshadowed by the leaks of its future patch, 2.6. Specifically, with the leaks of brand-new artifact sets and two new 5-star Hydro-vision characters—Kamisato Ayato and Yelan.

Known as the Head of the Yashiro Commission and of the Kamisato Clan, as well as the older brother of Kamisato Ayaka, Kamisato Ayato has been a hot topic for the Genshin Impact community. He’s become a trending topic at least once a day since he’s been mentioned in some character dialogues in Genshin, and even more so since his “soft launch” on Arataki Itto’s character trailer when he was finally heard speaking with Thoma.

Also, he’s been “faceless” for the longest time, with miHoYo only dropping his finalized character design recently.

Coinciding with the official release of version 2.5, leaks of version 2.6 have swarmed the Genshin Impact community almost immediately, changing the focus from Yae Miko and the new patch to Kamisato Ayato’s kit and Yelan’s design in beta.

In short, the whole community went insane over the amount of leaks they were being fed with yesterday (the author of this piece included).

The Genshin Impact community has been fed quite well yesterday, no? While we’re impatiently waiting for patch 2.6, let’s enjoy 2.5 first, shall we?

May all Yae Miko, Raiden Shogun, and Sangonomiya Kokomi wanters be havers.
