It seems like Oscar Isaac doesn’t want to keep viewers’ hopes up for Moon Knight season 2 as he called it a ‘limited series’ even before it premieres. The Moon Knight star, who plays the lead hero in the story, Steven Grant, shared his knowledge on his character before he took on the role. He openly told Jared Leto on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” segment that he was unfamiliar with Moon Knight ever despite having been an avid comic book collector when he was young.
“I’d never heard of Moon Knight before, and I collected comics when I was younger,” Isaac said to Morbius star Jared Leto for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ session. “I’d heard of Morbius, but I’d never heard of Moon Knight. I don’t know how the process was for you because it’s a feature film, we’re a limited series.”
As the series is tagged as a “limited series,” it might mean that there are no talks going on for another season. Oscar also touches on how the show became a series that gave him freedom to experiment and “try stuff.” He then explained, “There wasn’t the pressure that we got to make sure we make however many hundreds of millions of dollars on the opening weekend. So we could make it very point-of-view. We could make very weird decisions.”
Just like what the actor implied, Moon Knight is not the kind of character who is a fan favorite, which quite makes the show a unique entry to the Marvel series. It follows the story of a gift shop employee named Steven Grant who experiences blackouts and flashbacks of unknown memories. He learns that he is suffering from dissociative identity disorder and shares one body with mercenary Marc Spector, his identity from his supposed second life. Later on, he stumbles upon “a deadly mystery involving Egyptian gods,” as what the synopsis teases.
The official trailer of Moon Knight has been released mid-January this year and is set to premiere in March.
