We’ve all been cooped up in our homes for over a year and a half, so we’ve missed out on some Halloween parties and trick-or-treating. That just leaves binge watching horror movies on Netflix in the comfort of home — well, home might not be so comfy once you’ve seen one too many horror films. Plus, even though we were stuck at home, throwing virtual Halloween parties is a thing, and Netflix did exactly that to celebrate the spooky season.
Netflix channeled the Halloween spirit in the most virtual way possible with “Netflix and Chills,” a virtual party to celebrate the occasion and to introduce the horror and thriller flicks they had lined up for the spooky season. And no, it’s not “Netflix and Chill,” it’s “Netflix and Chills,” with an “s.”
The event was held on Friday, October 29 at 4PM, via Zoom. The virtual spook-tacular celebration was hosted by Nikko Ramos, and Cat Avelino, PR Head of Netflix Philippines, also attended the event to celebrate with everyone. To add to the spooky spirit, participants were encouraged to attend wearing costumes of their favorite Netflix characters. The ones with the best costumes were awarded with prizes.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a spook-tacular Halloween party without games. Netflix and Chills had three rounds of guessing games — guests had to guess the Netflix title based on certain hints dropped by the host, with the type of hints changing per round. The guest who got the highest score was awarded with goodies and prizes from Netflix.
In between the rounds, trailers of both showing and upcoming Netflix titles were played, to showcase the thrillers and horror films that Netflix recommended for the spooky season. Netflix titles that were featured included Fear Street Trilogy, Maledicto, House of Wax, Midnight Mass, U-Turn, Train to Busan, There’s Someone Inside Your House, and Night Teeth.
