BTS Jungkook celebrates his birthday by writing a song for ARMYs

It’s September 1! And in the K-Pop world, that just means…

Happiest birthday to BTS’ Golden Maknae and All-Rounder, Jeon Jungkook!

ARMYs everywhere are celebrating BTS’ only ’97 liner’s birthday today, and his birthday tags, projects, and anything related to him have skyrocketed to Twitter’s top trending list almost immediately. Of course, that wasn’t counting his birthday VLive just yet.

Before his birthday, Jungkook made a surprise appearance on artist-to-fan community platform WeVerse, and asked fans to send “lyric-like” sentences that are in no relation to his birthday. He also mentioned that he’s read their comments before and felt that they were “healing”.

At 10 PM KST, the BTS member went on live-streaming platform VLive to compose a song for ARMYs on the spot. According to fan translator @/tteokminnie, Jungkook said that because ARMYs and fans have written so much for him, he thought that it’s time to write for BTS’ ARMYs.

ARMYs and fans found it most especially endearing that their favorite idol was casually composing and turning out fan-messages into song lyrics. To them, it’s even better than being blessed with an out-of-the-blue SoundCloud song.

Because this song is for ARMYs, Jungkook changed the author-recipient messages in the lyrics, which reflected on his finalized lyrics. (How can you not love him, right?)

Aside from casually just making a song in real-time, BTS’ Golden Maknae also graced his audience (a whopping over 20 million in total, according to the VLive counter) with a mini concert. The birthday boy sang BTS songs like “Dimple,” “Pied Piper,” “2!3!,”  “Spring Day,” “Sea,” “Home,” and “Paradise,” an ARMY fan favorite.

BTS’ J-Hope also paid him a visit during his VLive, surprising him with a birthday cake (and a spoiler over there).

ARMYs and fans flooded Jungkook’s VLive with birthday messages, comments, and love for the BTS member. The VLive went on for over 2 hours, with an accumulated 20.4 million viewers and over 2 billion hearts.

Happy birthday, Jungkook! May your day be as wonderful like the person you are. ARMYs love you very much!
