In case you haven’t heard already–TikTok is hosting the first-ever TikTok Awards in the Philippines. Cleverly titled Ipakita Mo!, (Show It), this event will be recognizing and awarding local TikTok creators who have used the platform to showcase their talents and knack for creativity, which ultimately helped expand the variety of exciting content that’s already available on TikTok. With the app being insanely popular in the Philippines, it’s great to see an event give due credit to the amazing showcase of Filipino talent and wit.
Here’s a rundown of things to know about the first-ever TikTok Awards Show in the Philippines:
It’s streaming on July 4, 2021
Mark your calendars! The first TikTok Awards will be happening on Sunday, July 4, 2021. It will be streamed at 7:00-9:00 P.M. local time on TikTok Live @tiktokphilippines and will be presented in partnership with Globe and TM.
Famous Filipino personalities will be hosting the event
You already know who Billy Crawford, Inka Magnaye, and Vladimir Grand are at this point—there’s almost no need for introductions as they’ve made a name for themselves already in their respective industries. Their talent, charisma, and connection with the Filipino TikTok audience are what makes them a perfect mix of hosts for the first-ever TikTok Awards in the Philippines.
Local Pinoy talents will be performing
The first Philippine TikTok Awards will be as Pinoy as it can get: Filipino talents and personalities will be gracing this event and showing us world-class performances. We can expect world-class performances by actresses Ella Cruz, Sofia Pablo, Sanya Lopez, and Maris Racal; actors EA Guzman, and Mark Herras; vlogger Donnalyn Bartolome, dancers DJ Loonyo, Mannex Manhattan, Yumi, Dasuri Choi, and YanYan; sibling dance duo Ranz & Niana; singers Rico Blanco, Zendee, and Moira dela Torre; rappers Gloc 9 and Shanti Dope, and P-Pop boy band SB19.
There are 6 highlighted Award Categories that will make for an exciting spectacle
With the amount of TikTok videos and content creators falling in a variety of categories, it’s just right to have different awards for these categories. The different award categories for the 2021 TikTok Awards PH will include Top Talent Award, Top Celebrity Award, Rising Star Award, Top Creative Award, Popular Creator Award, and Top Creator Award.
Out of the six mentioned categories, the Popular Creator Award is open to all creators, with the general TikTok users getting the chance to vote for their faves in the category by liking their videos. The three most played videos will be hailed as winners. The winner of the last category, the Top Creator Award, will be chosen by a panel of judges.
There will be tough competition from familiar nominees
By familiar, we mean they’re already well known thanks to TikTok! With the likes of Maymay Entrata, Andrea Brillantes, Awra Briguela, Maja Salvador, and SB19 being nominated under the Top Celebrity Award, as well as Dasuri Choi, Yanyan de Jesus, and Zeinab Harake under the Top Talent Award, there’s no doubt there will be a tough competition going on. It will be a tough pick, and we can expect TikTok fans and users to rally behind their favourite TikTokerists!
