What if ‘Avengers’ was written by 16th century playwright William Shakespeare?

16th century England meets 21st century blockbuster in this parody revisioning of Marvel’s ‘Avengers’. To be or not to be? Well why not?

Everyone knows of the Avengers by now, an epic saga of films that rock modern day pop culture – so much so that they are some of the highest grossing movies of all time. But today, it looks like the MCU is gonna make its way to the stage and Opera halls.

At the helm of this ambitious project is none other than William Shakespeare, in spirit. Author Ian Doescher is rewriting all four Avengers films in the style of Shakespearean plays. The adaptations are set to release September later this year.

Ian promises fans that the adaptations will be faithful to both the Avengers and the late great playwright’s style of writing. It will feature all the scenes, easter eggs, and action that fans loved from the cinematic universe – complete with the same meter, verse, and rhymes that Shakespeare fashioned his plays with.

This isn’t Ian’s first necromantic job in bringing the 450 year old author back to life. He has done similar works such as turning the entire Star Wars Series into Shakespeare works, from ‘Verily, a New Hope’ to ‘The Merry Rise of Skywalker’. There are also smaller works such as ‘Much Ado About Mean Girls’, and perhaps the wittiest title, ‘Get Thee…Back to the Future!’

Want a taste of what to expect? Well here’s Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine a.k.a. the Senate reading a scene from ‘The Jedi Doth Return’:

What do you think? Are you looking forward to what the Avenger’s Shakespeare would look like? What other adaptations into ye olde English would you like to see?
