“Love Ain’t Real” is a pop-electronic track that paints the story of a relationship that felt too good to be true. The song sonically exemplifies the heightened emotions at the slap of reality through strong bass lines, impactful kicks and snares. Matched with words beautifully expressed in both English and Filipino, the song is a testament to a universal feeling of pain and emptiness in uncertainty, transcending languages. This is Tonie Enriquez and Dave Anonuevo’s first release under Manila-based label, Tarsier Records.

“The Filipino lyrics in the bridge was our personal favorite because we both know that the hugot language hits the hardest. The transition from first drop to the bridge strikes to represent the feeling of being complete to feeling empty. Similarly, it feels like when you had someone and they left. Over the past year, we both realized that nothing is guaranteed in this world, and that we should just keep doing what we love and that’s the side of uncertainty that we believe in.
Although having grown up in Singapore, Tonie and I felt a constant feeling of homesickness when it comes to the Philippines. We always wanted to find a deep and meaningful connection back to where our home is. It has always been a common goal for us to release under Tarsier Records the home of our idols, Moophs and Inigo Pascual. Beyond just a perfect match in Tarsier’s sound and ours, we really love the message that Tarsier Records stood for, “to become the bridge for Pinoy artists to have an opportunity to enter the global music scene.W e positioned ourselves to be challenged with our end goal of conveying a message while sounding unique yet staying truthful to the likes of our fellow Filipinos.”
