WATCH: Trailer for Netflix Philippines’ animated film ‘Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story’

Netflix Philippines has finally released the official trailer for its new animated film “Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story.”

The film tells the story of the movie’s main character, a feline named Nimfa Dimaano (voiced by Angelica Panganiban), and her burly dog janitor boyfriend, Roger (voiced by Robin Padilla).

Watch:

Premiering on October 29, the movie shows character Nimfa Dimaano, a “sales kitty” at a department store who has a boyfriend, Roger, who works as a janitor. Nimfa later meets Iñigo Villanueva (Voiced by Sam Milby), a “bourgeoisie business dog” with whom she develops an attraction for.

The trailer begins with a warning that it contains references to sexual actions, sensitive language, and violence, among others.

The producer of the movie, Spring Films and Rocketship Studio, earlier released a longer trailer for the film before it was acquired by Netflix for complete distribution.

Watch:

Ahead of its premiere, the film has already attracted discussion and controversy. There have been several calls to boycott the film because of Robin Padilla, one of its lead voice actors.

Padilla, who is a vocal supporter of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, has been bashed in the past for defending government policies and decisions.

In response, an animator who worked on the film called on viewers to not boycott the movie, indicating that Padilla’s views and opinions do not reflect on the film itself.
