BLACKPINK’s Lisa wishes to ‘peacefully’ settle the fraud incident with ex-manager

Lalisa Manoban,  or better known as Lisa, is a member of the South Korean girl group, BLACKPINK. Manoban is said to be the “most followed” K-pop idol on Instagram with over 33 million followers and counting.

Aside from being a member of one of this generation’s “biggest girl groups,” she also gained popularity by showcasing her talent in dancing, singing, and rapping in her YouTube videos.

However, shocking news broke yesterday that the 23-year-old star was scammed by her group’s former manager called “Mr. A”. Through an internal investigation, they found out that the manager defrauds Manoban with a massive amount of money, amounting to 1 billion KRW (Php 41.3 million).

The Korean news site, Market News, reported that Manoban had trusted Mr. A since the group’s debut. She even treated him as a family throughout her rookie training. Unfortunately, the ex-manager took advantage of Manoban’s trust and told her the money would be invested in real estate but the truth is that the money was wasted on gambling.

Moreover, Soompi reported that YG Entertainment (BLACKPINK’s agency) confirmed the report and released its official statement:

“According to Lisa’s wishes to settle this amicably, as the former manager was someone Lisa had trusted, Manager “A” has reimbursed a part of the sum and has left the company after agreeing on a reimbursement plan for the rest of the sum. We bow our heads and apologize for causing concern to the fans who love our artist. We are embarrassed by the misconduct of “A,” and we are feeling responsible for the management and supervision. We are taking preventive measures so that this does not happen again.”

“A” has already settled his resignation from YG Entertainment. and is no longer part of the company.
