Korean actress Yoo In Na disclosed her experience of having her images taken for a romance scam.
On December 10, a video called “[Loved In Na] Haven’t We Met Before? This Month’s Leading Man Park Jung Min” was uploaded to the “Yoo In Radio” YouTube channel. The actress revealed in the program a startling tale of how her pictures were once utilized in a romance scam.
“When I was in my early 20s working part-time at a café, a man approached me and said, ‘Hye Young, you’re Hye Young, right?’ I was terrified. He then took out his phone and showed me photos of myself,” she recalled.
The actress explained that the images from her social media profile had been taken and utilized to fabricate a false identity.
“This woman had taken all my photos and even created backstories for them. It didn’t stop there—she used them for a romance scam. She had borrowed money from this man, around 100,000 to 200,000 won (approximately 4,000 to 8,000 pesos), which was a significant amount at the time,” she added.
Yoo revealed that she showed the man her own social media page to prove her innocence. “When the man threatened to report her, the woman contacted him and returned the money. That’s how it was resolved. It was such a surreal experience.”
The actress reflected on the said incident and stated that, “It wasn’t a good experience, but over time, it’s become one of those unique episodes in my life.”
