‘Audio glitch?’: Mixed reactions follow Win Metawin’s Miss Universe Philippines 2024 performance

Win Metawin’s performance at the Miss Universe Philippines coronation last night has ignited a whirlwind of reactions across various social media platforms.

Since the announcement of the actor’s participation in MUPH 2024, best known for his roles in “2Gether,” “F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers,” and the highly anticipated “Under Parallel Skies,” alongside Filipino actress Janella Salvador, excitement has been building among his supporters.

However, what was supposed to be a moment of celebration quickly turned sour for many fans, who found themselves caught in a storm of online criticism following Win’s rendition of Zack Tabudlo’s “Obsessed” during the event.

Numerous individuals took to social media to express their disappointment, labeling the actor’s performance as ‘poor’ and ‘terrible.’ One user even went as far as to admit discontinuing their viewing of the MUPH live stream due to their inability to endure Win’s presentation.

Di ko kinaya. Umalis ako saglit sa live [I couldn’t handle it. I had to step away from the live stream for a moment],” said one user.

Another user echoed this sentiment, questioning the decision to feature a foreign performer when there are countless talented Filipino artists available. “Diyos ko, isang tambak ang pinoy na magaling kumanta kumuha tayo ng foreigner na wala sa tono?? [God, there’s a mountain of talented Filipinos who can sing well, and yet we choose a foreigner who’s off-key??],” they exclaimed, which only emphasized the prevailing sentiment of confusion and disappointment within the online community.

Many Filipinos even pointed out that organizers should have gotten a Filipino performer.

negative comments

Unsurprisingly, fans and supporters of the actor came to his defense, attributing any shortcomings in his performance to technical difficulties during the livestream. They also emphasized that videos recorded by the live audience would attest to the actor’s good singing skills.

You guys are just being too rude and judgemental. He wouldn’t be invited if he’s not a good singer. Nagkaproblema sa audio that’s why hindi maganda pakinggan livestream.[The audio encountered some issues, which is why the Livestream didn’t sound good],” a fan exclaimed.

One more supporter said, “It’s obvious there’s an audio glitch in livestream. Even the host Alden, his voice is glitching too.”

Many social media users also said that the sound system and technical team are the ones should be blamed.

positive comments

While fans are demanding an apology from the organizers of MUPH 2024 for their handling of the situation, there is no official statement from the Thai superstar himself.

Similarly, MUPH 2024 has yet to address this issue.
