Calling all Sheerios and Swifties! We don’t have to look for easter eggs anymore, because Ed Sheeran confirmed on Instagram that there will be a remix of ‘The Joker and the Queen,’ which features multi-award-winning artist and his good pal, Taylor Swift.
In an interview during the 2022 BRIT Awards’ red carpet, Sheeran first broke the news to LADBible, saying that he has a new single that will come out on February 11 which features Swift. “It comes out Friday, and it’s with Taylor Swift.” He added, “We’re literally announcing that in like an hour. So, you can have the exclusive.”
Shortly after, Sheeran made it more official by taking it to Instagram and sharing a snippet of the song. He wrote, “The Joker And The Queen featuring my good friend @taylorswift is out this Friday. Link in bio to pre-order or pre-save it x.”

Prior to Sheeran’s official announcement, fans have been speculating about the pair’s collaboration as early as November 2021. When Swift released the music video for ‘I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)’ in November, her fans were quick to search for easter eggs that could tell what surprises and tricks Swift has in her sleeves.
One notable easter egg was when Swift carved an equal sign into the wedding cake. Some fans even pointed out that this could be a sign Swift and Sheeran would collaborate in ‘The Joker and the Queen,’ a track from Sheeran’s recent album ‘=.’

The eagle-eyed fans also spotted another easter egg in Sheeran’s ‘Overpass Graffiti’ music video. In the music video, Sheeran was donning a black jacket with what seemed to be a Taylor Swift patch. One fan pointed this out on Twitter, where Sheeran only responded with a thinking emoji.

‘The Joker and the Queen’ is the sixth track from Sheeran’s fifth studio album ‘=.’ This isn’t the first time that Sheeran and Swift have collaborated. The pair first worked together in 2013 for ‘Everything Has Changed,’ one of the singles from Swift’s original album ‘Red.’ Later on, the two also teamed up in 2017 for ‘End Game’ from ‘reputation’ and in 2021 for Swift’s “from the vault track” track ‘Run’ from the recently re-recorded ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ album.
