LOOK: Security guard earns praise after shielding dog from the rain

A security guard at a supermarket in the United Kingdom has been widely lauded by netizens after he was recently caught shielding a dog from the rain.

A concerned citizen saw the Morrisons security guard, later on identified as Ethan Dearman, holding an umbrella for a dog outside the supermarket. She then posted the photo of Dearman on her Twitter account last Monday, June 29.

“Shout out to this @Morrisons security man keeping this good boy dry,” @MelGracie_ said. “He said ‘well you never know how dogs feel about the rain.’”

Twitter users praised the guard for his good deed. The post bearing the photo of the guard and the dog has since acquired almost 150,000 likes, as of this writing. Some also requested the supermarket to reward the man for his kindness for going “above and beyond” his duty.

Dearman, later on, retweeted the post and responded: “Looks like I made a lot of people happy today.”

The pet’s owner, David Cherry, also thanked Dearman for keeping his dog named Freddie dry. Cherry said that the security guard was always “so kind” to his family whenever they visited the store.

“Good community vibes,” Freddie’s owner stated as he retweeted the post. “People looking out for each other. He’s always nice to my Dad and brother, it’s nice to hear nice things.”

Dearman, meanwhile, acknowledged his workmates at the supermarket today, July 1.

He said, “If it wasn’t for the teamwork between staff on a daily basis then I wouldn’t have been able to shelter Freddie from the rain and watch customer queues while staff members at the door continued to count the numbers inside.” JB
