MANILA, Philippines – Asia Society Philippines, Indian Cultural Association of the Philippines (ICAP), and SM by the BAY bring back HOLI FESTIVAL 2020, the 8th annual celebration in Manila of the traditional and colorful Hindu Festival, on March 29 2020 (Sunday) at 3:30 PM at North Fountain, SM by the BAY.

“Holi is not only a festival of joy, it is a promise of renewal,” says Indian Ambassador, the Hon. Jaideep Mazumdar.

Holi originated in India, one of the most important festivals for Hindus. It marks the arrival of spring and represents the triumph of good over evil. Known as The Festival of Colors, Holi has been made famous and iconic by the vivid rainbow of powder clouds thrown into the air — and playfully at each other — by family, friends, and merry-goers bound by the promise of change and new opportunities.

“We have always been proud to help bring the Holi spirit to the Philippines,” says Asia Society Philippines chairperson Doris Magsaysay Ho. “The colors, values, and vibe are actually very Filipino. It not only celebrates new chapters, it is about coming together as a community. The Festival of Colors also shows there is Unity in Diversity. When peoples and cultures come together, people are like colored powder that bring life to the world.”

The annual Holi Festival in the Philippines has been hosted by Asia Society Philippines for 8 years now. It is an expression of Asia Society’s mission to foster unity and development through knowledge and understanding.

“For the first time ever, the Indian Cultural Association of the Philippines is thrilled to join hands with Asia Society in celebrating one of India’s most important festivals – Holi,” says Mr. Ram Sitaldas, President of ICAP. “It’s going to be a full day of celebration with mouth-watering Indian food, exciting dances and games, and of course, lots of color and fun!”

Activities lined up for Holi Festival 2020 include dancing and singing to festive Indian music and cultural performances, and multiple Holi countdowns. Indian cuisine will be on offer throughout the day, and there will be booths for henna, photos, and for Rangoli – an Indian art form in which vibrant patterns are created on the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand, and flower petals.

There will also be 3-Kilometer Fun Run! Participating runners will be provided a singlet, race bib, and medal, which can be delivered to your doorstep through My Run Time or at the registration booth on March 29th.

The HOLI FESTIVAL 2020 is organized by Asia Society Philippines, Embassy of India in the Philippines, and SM by the BAY, and the Indian Cultural Association of the Philippines.

The festival is sponsored by Bench, Maynilad, foodpanda, Anytime Fitness and Messy Bessy. Special thanks to New India Assurance, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Malee and Palmolive Expertique. It is also supported by Okada Manila, Star Shampoo and Sheraton Hotel. Media partners are Cignal, Philippine Star, WhenInManila, BusinessWorld SparkUp and ClickTheCity.
