Artist turns Hollywood celebrities into live-action Disney characters

With the popularity of live-action Disney remakes today, it’s not surprising to see fans speculating about the next movie. Whether that’d be a reimagining of Hercules or a revamped version of Moana, it’s exciting to see what the famous production house comes up with in the coming years. But before we can hear about Disney’s additional lineup of films,  digital artist Helen Morgun gives us a glimpse of the actors and actresses that could play the titular roles of our beloved animated characters.

On her Instagram account, Morgun creates side-by-side drawings of Hollywood celebrities reimagined as Disney heroes and villains. Although some of these classic tales have already been recreated, it’s still nice to imagine what the remake might’ve looked like if these actresses played the roles instead.

Check out her works of art below:

Lena Headey as the Evil Queen from ‘Snow White’

Lena Headey has already played a strong and fierce queen in Game of Thrones and 300. Adding the character of the Evil Queen into her acting credits would definitely cement her as the OG actress for fearless royals.

Emilia Clarke as Belle from ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Emilia Clarke may be the Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones, but in this reimagined portrait, she is the tenacious yet good-natured character, Belle.

Lady Gaga as Ursula in ‘The Little Mermaid’

Although Melissa McCarthy is reportedly in talks to play Ursula in the live-action remake, we think Lady Gaga could elevate the sea witch into a more devious and sassier character.

Tom Hiddleston as Hades from ‘Hercules’

Tom Hiddleston is no stranger to playing the villain on the big screen, so it would be exciting to see him play the snarky yet wicked Hades on a live-action remake of Hercules.

Mila Kunis as Esmeralda from ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’

Esmeralda is quite possibly one of the best characters in the animated film genre. But compared to the Disney princesses, she is overlooked and highly underrated. So, we think Mila Kunis could remind viewers once again of this strong and empowering heroine.

Rihanna as Tiana in ‘Princess and the Frog’

Though we have no doubt of Rihanna’s vocal chops, we’re not quite sure she’d make the perfect Tiana. However, we can agree that her “no-nonsense” demeanor fits perfectly with Tiana’s realistic point-of-view in life.

Emma Stone as Merida from ‘Brave’

Given her red hair, Emma Stone could become the ideal actress to portray Merida. Now, if she can only get Merida’s thick Scottish accent down, then we might fully be able to consider her for the role of this warrior princess (should there ever be a live-action retelling of this animated movie).

Selena Gomez as Moana from ‘Moana’

The singer was first recognized for her role as Alex Russo in the Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place. Recently, however, Gomez has taken a step back from acting and has chosen to pursue her music career instead. If the ‘Rare’ singer were to venture back into acting, she would definitely make an interesting choice as Moana.
