Italian luxury house Gucci has launched a capsule collection starring the famous Walt Disney animated character, in honor of Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat.
The series spans menswear and womenswear pieces such as t-shirts, knitwear, dresses and sweatshirts, as well as sneakers, accessories such as scarves and wallets.
According to WWD, several of the pieces feature a new Mini GG Supreme fabric that draws on a Gucci pattern from the 1980s and has been combined with an image of the famous Mickey Mouse.

Gucci brand ambassador and actress Ni Ni fronts the collection’s fun-filled campaign, which is set in Disneyland. Ni Ni stars alongside the actor Earl Cave and the designer and poet Zoë Bleu in the campaign, which was shot by Harmony Korine.

“Happy Year of the Mouse from #Gucci,” the brand captioned an image posted to Instagram, featuring Ni Ni sporting a bucket bag from the new collection. “Designed by Alessandro Michele, the collection features accessories and pieces with Walt Disney’s True Original, Mickey Mouse, appearing on a GG motif bucket bag with leather trim,” Gucci embellished.
This isn’t Mickey’s first appearance in a Gucci collection — the famous mouse has popped up in the brand’s designs in the past, notably in its Spring/Summer 2019 and Resort 2020 collections.
The creature has been the subject of multiple high-fashion lines over the last few years, including an extensive collection for Opening Ceremony that was unveiled in 2018 during a catwalk show at Disneyland in California. A string of high-profile collaborations with brands including Lacoste, Rag & Bone and Marc Jacobs also marked his 90th anniversary in the same year. IB/JB
