IN PHOTOS: Fans ‘will never get over’ Ella Mai’s first-ever concert in Manila

From auditioning for “The X Factor” and uploading her music on SoundCloud to sharing some video clips on Instagram, London-born singer Ella Mai really worked her way up to becoming a “Grammy-winning R&B artist.” And it was all thanks to American producer DJ Mustard who noticed her vocal talent and even offered her a contract with 10 Summer Records.

From 2016 to 2018, Ella Mai released 3 EP’s on the label, including Time, Change, and Ready.

Boo’d Up, which serves as her lead single for Ready, became a breakthrough love anthem—dominating the airwaves and even taking the number 1 spot on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart in 2018. In addition to that RollingStone dubbed it as “The Song of the Summer”, nominated for an MTV Music Award and even won Best R&B Song at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

Within a span of 3 years, Ella Mai has already set a record on airplay charts and gone on world tours—one of which was her recent one-night concert in the Philippines last November 6, 2019. Filipino fans were able to experience the 25-year-old singer’s infectious energy as she performed some of her hit songs at the New Frontier Theater.

When we talk about concerts, artists usually pair their performances with visually-stunning stage design—prioritizing grandeur over stage presence. But for an international artist like Ella Mai, less is more. Without any smoke effects nor flamboyant outfits, the artist was able to turn a simple stage into an R&B party!

The songs included in the setlist were “Good Bad”, “Dangerous”, “Sauce”, “Whatchamacallit”, “Cheapshot”, “Shot Clock”, “Boo’d Up”, “Everything”, “10,000 Hours”, “Anymore”, “She Don’t”, “Own It”, “Run My Mouth”, “Gut Feeling”, “Close”, “Naked”, and “Trip” to name a few.
