An organization based in the UP College of Mass Communication is inviting college students in the country to submit photo entries highlighting laborers in the Philippines.
The annual photojournalism contest, known as Mulat Maninipat (MUMA), is organized by the Union of Journalists of the Philippines – UP (UJP-UP). This year’s theme is “On The Job,” which aims to promote the rights and welfare of workers in the country.
Photo entries can be taken through mobile phones or DSLR cameras, and may be submitted until Friday, August 9.
A P3,000 cash prize will be awarded for both the DSLR and mobile categories.
Said contest will be a good avenue to raise awareness about the various struggles workers face today, according to MUMA co-heads Jaycen Aligway and Danicah Lagman.
Besides raising awareness, the contest also aims to enjoin everyone in the collective and genuine call for the democratic rights of not just of workers, but of the general Filipino people, according to UJP-UP Chairperson Khim Raymundo.
