The Initiative PH (TIPH) is a youth-run volunteer organization that coordinates relief efforts and organizes sustainable programs for poverty-, calamity-, and conflict-, ridden areas and communities in the Philippines.
Among the other projects spearheaded by The Initiative PH include various donation drives and aimed at providing medical and school supplies, as well as relief and recovery goods. The Initiative PH has also raised awareness by means of creating campaigns, such as Project Katipunan, Project Taft, and Project Lumad.
The Department of SOGIE Rights, or DSR, is a group of youth volunteers under The Initiative PH. We are committed to advocating for greater attention and support for LGBTQIA+ youth. Our vision is to reach out to vulnerable youth with varying gender and sexuality, especially those who face inequality, discrimination, and low self-acceptance.
Main Events
The Initiative PH has succeeded in numerous ventures to address issues such as calamity and oppression of communities here in the Philippines. In line with this, TIPH’s DSR conceptualized Project Liwayway, to fight LGBT+ discrimination against youth via a series of lectures and workshops for the youth to attend. Project Liwayway includes a General Assembly, Gender Sensitivity Workshops, Educational Discussions on gender, sex, and sexuality, and Practice Workshops on how to combat stigma and support LGBT+ youth.
Why Partner with TIPH?
TIPH is a diverse group of over 90 youth volunteers, including members adept at research, management, visual content creation, writing, and human relations. We have successfully mobilized ourselves through effective internal organization and coordinated action to succeed in different outreach programs, fund-raising projects, online advocacy campaigns, and public events over our 2 years of volunteer work. Recent and ongoing projects include Adopt a Stuffed Animal, Cause I Care Fair, Project Lumad, and PH International Model United Nations.
We want to bring this hard work and effective initiative to tackle discrimination and advocate for greater awareness and support for those with variant genders and sexualities. The Department of SOGIE Rights plans to educate and empower the public regarding Sexual Orientation, Gender, Sexual Identity, and Expression, and promote the rights of the LGBT youth to live as who they are without prejudice.
