The Philippine flag colors were properly represented in the Miss Universe pageants

Editor’s Note: The InqPOP! editorial staff has revised portions of this article in light of Ms. Gloria Diaz’s statement that she wore white during her Miss Universe competition.

Finally! The country got the crown back after winning Miss Universe 2018.

Congratulations to Ms. Universe 2018, Catriona Gray, you’ve given us, Filipinos the best Christmas gift!

Who would have thought that after winning the crown, Gray will be the one to complete our Philippine flag palette. If you can remember, she wore a sophisticated lava-inspired gown designed by Mak Tumang, which allowed her stand-out among 93 contestants around the world.

The designer posted on his facebook the details of Gray’s gown which symbolizes ‘Fiery and Lovely Perfection.’

Catriona can be considered as the modern-day Daragang Magayon. She embodies the Filipina’s beauty, intelligence and burning passion,” Tumang writes.

MAYON: Fiery and Lovely PerfectionToday, Catriona is coming home. She is celebrating her roots – she is celebrating…

Gray and the three Filipina title holders of Miss Universe embodied almost all of the colors of the Philippine flag.

In the year of 1969, Gloria Diaz was hailed as Miss Universe in a white gown. The next Miss Universe Philippines, Margie Moran, also wore white when she won the competition back in 1973. And then, in 2017, Pia Wurtzbach brought back the crown wearing a stunning blue gown. Now, Catriona Gray was crowned as Miss Universe 2018 wearing red.

So, it seems like our Philippine flag colors were properly represented in the Miss Universe competition. This, thereby, cements the place of Filipinos in the international beauty pageant world.

See how the beauty queens stunned everyone during their era:

Incase you didn't know but Catriona Gray just completed our Philippine Flag. <3 <3 <3
