A total of 15 teams from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in the 5thDoubleDragon Boat Race on August 18 at MuelleLoney (River Wharf) in Iloilo City will paddle it out for domination in this biggest dragon boat competition in the country.
Spearheaded by DoubleDragon Properties Corp. in cooperation with Iloilo City government and Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF), this 2018 race is expected to intensify the public awareness and appreciation of the importance of Iloilo River as an essential venue for water sports and mover of the local economy and tourism industry.
DoubleDragon CEO and Chairman Edgardo “Injap” Sia highlighted once again his commitment to upholding the values this event was conceived to underscore. “Since we took over the activity in 2014, our main aim has been the cleanup advocacy of the Iloilo River and its revitalization projects.”
Sia added, “Its mission is clearly stated: Strength in Unity, One in Advocacy, Leave a Legacy. Hopefully, it’s a legacy that will make Iloilo City a top tourism destination for dragon boat paddlers everywhere. Furthermore, bring about economic growth not only in Iloilo City but the whole of Panay Island.”
The fifteen (15) participating teams are AMPPHI Davao, Bohol Paddlers Association Inc., Boracay All Stars, Boracay NAMI SPR Ati, Cebu Fireblade Dragon Boat Club, DumagueteYellowfins, John B. Lacson Maritime Foundation- Komodo Dragon, One Piece DrakonSangres, Philippine Army Dragon Warriors, Philippine Coast Guard Dragon Boat, PilipinasWave Warriors Dragon Boat Team, Rowers Club Philippines, Speed Devilz Fierce and Strong 22, Team Bakunawa – Iligan and Triton Dragon Boat Racing Team.
The event is in line with the celebration of the 81st Iloilo City Charter Day. The champion in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed categories will receive Php50,000.00 each as a cash prize.
