Less than a day after initially unveiling “Do No Wrong,” Grammy-winning producer Sam Pounds has announced that he is delaying what would have been Liam Payne’s first postmortem release.
On October 26, Pounds first revealed that “Do No Wrong” would be released on November 1, which would have been less than three weeks after Payne’s death from a hotel balcony jump in Argentina.
Upon receiving backlash from the said move, Pounds released a statement via X (formerly Twitter) announcing the postponement of the song’s release and wrote, “Today I’m deciding to hold ‘Do No Wrong’ and leave those liberties up to all family members.”
“I want all proceeds go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire),” he added. “Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet. We are still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to mourn in peace and in prayer. We will all wait. With love Sam Pounds.”

Fans then took to social media to thank the singer for holding off the release of the song.
Thank you for making the right choice. It's in the vein of what Liam would've chosen.

Sam, your decision to prioritize family, love, and respect over everything else speaks volumes. It’s beautiful that you’re choosing to honor Liam's memory and give everyone time to mourn in their own way. Holding back on 'Do No Wrong' for now, and dedicating proceeds to a charity…

Thank you. I think that’s the right decision to make… I personally wasn’t ready for this yet… I still can’t listen to his voice or songs… so I can’t imagine how this could be for his family… I’m sure the right time and way will come. Thank you ❤️

Sam, it is a good decision, it is a gesture of love and respect that you prioritize Liam's family and that you honor his memory while respecting everyone's time of mourning. Stop 'Do Nothing Wrong' for now and allocate the proceeds to a charity is a humbling gesture.

The best decision to be made, thank you for that, always him first, and whatever time is necessary for your family.
We have a lot of him in life, regardless of new releases or not, he will always be here with us.
Thank you for making this decision.❤️🩹 https://t.co/pYSk0IIWXK— Payno you will live forever.❤️🩹🥺 (@mirlacnco) October 29, 2024
Pounds had previously shared a message to Payne’s family and his fans that the song was an homage to the late singer’s spirit in a deleted post on X.
His post read, “I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angels will comfort you all every day while listening.”
The singer also mentioned Payne’s sister Ruth and his son Bear, saying he hoped the song would be “a blessing to Ruth, Bear, and the entire family.”
An autopsy conducted in the Argentine capital revealed that Payne died from trauma and internal and external hemorrhage. His fall caused “extreme serious injuries,” according to a statement from Buenos Aires police to The Associated Press.
Immediately after his death, medics confirmed his death and an early postmortem report revealed he had cocaine in his system.
In the days after Payne’s passing, Zayn Malik postponed the U.S. leg of his tour as the singer’s former One Direction comrades grieved for him.
