This Cardcaptor Sakura cafe will definitely bring out the otaku in you

With the release of the sequel to one of our favorite animes back in the 90s, Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Arc, otakus have another reason to be excited about — the Cardcaptor Sakura Cafe in Japan!

Yep, you read that right! In collaboration with Tower Records, three Tower Records Cafe were turned into Cardcaptor Sakura-themed cafes that opened in Japan last February 6. These are located in three of Japan’s largest cities — Tokyo’s Shibuya neighborhood, Osaka’s Umeda district, and Sapporo.

Like in every anime-themed cafes, the food choices are related to the particular anime. For their entree, you might want to try their Kinomoto Family Breakfast-Fujitaka Version which includes a ham and egg sandwich, soup, and mixed greens. Or if you want something heavier, order their Sakura in Full Bloom Syaoran Rice Omelet.

But they have more options for dessert and drinks that will surely make you drool but might put a dent in your budget.

They have Sakura’s Hanyaan Hotcakes that come in 10 stacks and Spinel Sun Wagashi (Japanese sweets) Plate which includes dorayaki sweet bean cakes, skewered dango dumplings, and ice cream with a Japanese-style glaze.

You might want to pair your 10-stack pancakes with Kero-chan Caramel Hot Milk — a latté art of Sakura’s winged crest with a marshmallow garnish of Kero-chan, which is one of the more familiar characters in the series. You can also try any of the following drinks: the Character Drink and the Release Unsealing Drink that come with any of the four characters or Clow Cards.

But that’s not all. One of the best things about themed cafés are the freebies! Whenever you order a drink, you’ll receive a coaster (designs are given at random). Order an entree or dessert and you’ll get a free bookmark. But if you order the whole shebang (entree, dessert, and drinks), you’ll score a Clow Card Sticker. Awesome, right?

Be sure to bring home a sakura mochi-flavored cotton candy so you can tell your friends all about it.

You can experience the Cardcaptor Sakura Cafe until March 14. The next step for an otaku would be to book a flight now to Japan!
