…because you actually need to cheat in order to win!
We all have cheated, or at least tried to cheat, in the games we played with our family or with our friends. And no matter how hard we tried to play a clean and fair game, someone ends up cheating anyway.
But this new edition of the popular board game Monopoly actually invites players to cheat in order to win!
Nope, we’re not kidding! The senior vice president of Hasbro gaming, Jonathan Berkowitz, announced that they’ll be releasing the Monopoly Cheater’s Edition come September. The new edition is the result of a study they conducted, which revealed that almost half of Monopoly players attempt to cheat during the game. So, they’ve decided to treat their fans and give them a game where winning takes excellent cheating skills.
Wondering how the game works? Well, the goal is still the same: the player with the most money wins the game. But they changed up a few things so players can cheat. They have removed the banker — all players will get an equal chance to become a banker during their turn! They’ve also added a stack of 15 cheat cards on top of the Community Chest and Chance cards.
The cheat cards allow players to steal money from the bank, give someone lesser money than you owe them, and collect rent from someone else’s property, to name a few.
But like every game, there’s always a catch. You either get away with it and get rewarded or get caught and suffer the consequences!
So the question is, how good are you at cheating in Monopoly? At least in this edition, players have the license to cheat.
