David Archuleta rediscovers Manila in October

This October 20, one of the most well-loved artists of the millennials is making a Manila comeback as Ovation Productions presents DAVID ARCHULETA live at the Kia Theater. Six years since his last visit, David excitedly conveyed his upcoming concert to Filipino fans through a video that instantly went viral. The 26 year old singer first visited the shores in 2009, in a back to back concert with American Idol winner, David Cook.

Taking a break from his craft, David made a return through his much-awaited powerful single, “Numb”, which hit the airwaves last year. “This is like a new beginning,” Archuleta enthusiastically revealed about the track, saying that he feels both rewarded and electrified by his own music. He added, “It’s not just taking another chance with music, it’s taking another chance on myself. … I need to be who I am or else I’ll go numb again.”

The American Idol album premiered fresh music through his single “Up All Night” just last April, two months prior to the release of his EP, Orion. The reinvigorating and retrospective melodies and lyrics render his new recordings unique. David opened up about his new music, saying that he had constantly felt a need to be “perfect” and “invincible”, and those were what essentially generated his inner battles. To counter these doubts, David disclosed, “I have to tell myself], ‘It’s OK, you can let go. Let the armor down. Put the sword away.’”

David’s music break allowed him to rediscover himself both as an individual and as a musician. He said, “ Music has to have a purpose now for me, and that’s really motivated me moving forward.” Furthermore, he released Orion as a segment of a three-part EP series that he hopes to release.

At a tender age of 6, David Archuleta was already belting Les Miserables and Evita classics in his backyard. Family and friends noticed his impeccable singing talent and wowed restaurant crowds at the age of 9. At 10 years of age, he won the children’s division of Utah Talent Competition. 6 years later, he joined the prestigious American Idol and received 44% of the total votes, finishing first runner-up.

Joining the critically acclaimed competition propelled him to more fame—signing a record deal with Sony, multiple arena performances, and having his hit single, “Crush” land a coveted no. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. His other record-breaking tracks include “A Little Too Not Over You”, “Something ‘Bout Love”, and “Touch My Hand”. The musical sensation has released six albums, crafted a memoir called “Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, and the Power of Perseverance”, and remained close to the hearts of Filipinos after starring in a TV mini-series in the country.

David Archuleta performs live in Manila at the Kia Theater on October 20, 2017, six years after his last concert at the Araneta Coliseum which was also produced by Ovation Productions. Tickets prices are as follows; P3750, 2750, 1750. Tickets are now available at www.ticketnet.com.ph and all Ticketnet outlets nationwide.
