For a small group of Political Science majors in UP Diliman, it was the questioning of the gap between theory and praxis that started it all. They dreamed of the seemingly impossible: bridging the gap between theoretical form and the practical application of political science to the greater society. It is the courage of these like-minded individuals to defy the status quo and question the possible that gave birth to an organization that will genuinely reflect the desired synergy. Fourteen years after, here we are, the UP Political Society, standing strong against the test of time and dauntlessly pursuing our dream.
Stepping out of the boundaries meant the hardest of obstacles and the toughest of uncertainties. But our passion proved greater than our challenges. We have defied our limits and redefined possibilities. We have paved and will continue to pave the way towards further realization of our principles of progressive leadership, diversity in activism, critical thinking, academic excellence, political awareness, and political involvement.
If last year we went beyond and braved the unknown, this year the UP Political Society dares to exceed what it once thought to be its limitation. For our fourteenth anniversary, we dare to push ourselves to greater heights. Emboldened by the principles we believe in, we hold this conviction: Limitless: Defying the Possible.
To mark our first step in defying limits, UP POLSCi will hold an anniversary forum, “Bridging the Gap: the Market-state Relations”, aimed at providing a critical and informed educational discussion on government-market relations through a special issue-per-issue focus on present Philippine economic problems, to be held on August 17, 2017 at the UP School of Economic, Room 114. This will be followed by the anniversary educational discussion that will be devoted to exploring and analyzing another relevant and important political issue.
We have always been driven by the passion that pushed us to aim higher; never backed down by the adversaries that crossed our journey; and never ceased to defy the possible. We are UP Political Society, and we are limitless.
