Filipinos share how they pulled a ‘reverse card’ to get back at online scammers

A Filipino Facebook user is sharing how they pulled a “reverse card” on online scamming, as they initiated their own “scheme” against a scammer.

In the widely popular humor-based FB group, Homepaslupa Buddies 4.0, the OP shared a screenshot of their conversation containing information that the supposed scammer sent him, and even thanking them in the post for the money that they have received.

It is reported that Filipinos are falling prey to one of the most predatory schemes that’s out there on the internet, to date: “job” or “task” scams, in which victims are asked to put in funds for “one-time registration fees” to gain access to larger pools of money from scammers pretending to be professionals from reputable investment companies or private corporations. This type of scam can commonly be seen all over messaging apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Viber wherein they would send a message stating that they are looking for part-timers, and are most likely to lure in individuals who are desperate to augment their income.

Once you become a member of the group, there will be several tasks you will have to accomplish before the time runs out in order for you to earn.

Another user wrote, “Thank you sa 380! Hahahahahhaha araw arawin eh makakabawi din sa mga naiscam sakin nung isang taon [Thank you for the 380! Hahahahahhaha I’ll do this everyday to get back to those who scammed me last year].”

Paano ba yan yung iscammin nila ako pero di nila alam sila yung iscammin ko Hhahahah gipit lang [How is that when they are scamming me but they don’t know that they are the ones I’m scamming Hhahahah just desperate],” a third user wrote.

More social media users shared their thoughts in the comments with some sharing similar stories of what happened to them in the said scheme.
