EXO-Ls are definitely in for a treat as they once again step into the Araneta Coliseum in anticipation of EXO’s main rapper, Park Chanyeol’s “2024 Chanyeol Live Tour: City-scape in Manila,” which took place on October 19, 2024.
Looking back to Chanyeol’s last appearance at The Big Dome, he was joined by Oh Sehun, the other half of EXO-SC, for their “EXO-SC Back To Back FanCon Tour in Manila.” A year later, he returns to the same venue as a soloist for a one-night escape with his fans, filled with music and cheers.
Cityscape in Manila was definitely a night to remember for Chanyeol’s fans and supporters as he is accompanied by a live band on most of his stages, giving the audiences a different kick of performances to relish. The night started with a VCR that led to his first song performance “Back Again,” which does he need to say more that he has really returned in the city all prepped and bagged with tons of surprises for his Filipino fans.
With Park Chanyeol’s first interactive ment chiming in after his first two songs, he gladly welcomed everyone to the show and asked ‘kumusta?’ (how’s everyone?) and followed through with ‘namiss ko ka’yo’ (I missed all of you.) On top of that, he also asked what they thought about his new hairstyle, leaving the fans adoring him all through the night. He was then amazed at a lot of EXO-Ls in attendance at his Manila tour.
The night continues with sets of performances including those of his works from different collaborations starting off with “Stay With Me,” a well-known OST from the 2016 K-drama hit “Goblin.” “Yours” was also performed as part of the set that is remembered to be a collab work with Raiden, LeeHi, and CHANGMO.
After his second set, another interactive ment took place. He introduced his band members one by one, making its way to a surprise mini guitar performance from Chanyeol of Guns ‘N Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” Eagles’ “Hotel California,” and Green Day’s “Basket Case.”
Third set of stage performances follows through including but not limited to Chanyeol’s first mini album songs and EXO-SC tracks. The show also included an interactive segment of “Behind the photos” that gives Chanyeol a chance to show fans an unreleased photos during his current stay in the country, and describe what is inside every photos.
Further hyping the crowd, Park Chanyeol surprises his Filipino fans with a full performance of Lola Amour’s OPM song “Raining Manila.” The crowd went wild as the South Korean rapper graced the stage full of charm and talent, and they were left in awe, enough for them to chant ‘isa pa’ (one more,) which in the latter part of the show, he delivers with a round two performance of the said OPM song. Chanyeol also teases his fans saying ‘No more Hawak Kamay,’ as it can be remembered that he always sang the OPM song in all his Manila visits last 2023.
One of the main highlights as well was during the next set of acts that staged their renditions of some of EXO’s hits which includes “Lotto,” “Tempo,” “Monster,” “Obsession,” “Growl,” and “Hear Me Out” which was a track from their most recent album. Fans took a trip down memory lane as they reminisced about different eras of EXO from then till now.
As the show is closing to its end, Chanyeol continues with his solo performances and even acknowledged fan projects. He then invites everyone to strike a pose in the camera with his bandmates and backup dancers. After so much warmth and loud cheers given to him by his Filipino fans, he decided to come back on stage for his encore performances which comprised “Just As Usual,” and a second-round performance of “Hasta La Vista.”
In his closing ment, Chanyeol reassured everyone not to worry about him leaving after the show, expressing that he’s always ready to return to Manila with more and better music. He also emphasized the importance of staying healthy, encouraging EXO-Ls to eat well and take care of themselves. In return, he promised to look after his own health and assured fans that he’s been doing well.
