K-pop stan Twitter reacts to GFriend’s upcoming 10th year anniversary reunion

BUDDYs have prayed for times like this again.

Almost 4 years after their sudden disbandment, GFriend is set to celebrate their 10th anniversary this January 2025. The news was first reported by JoyNews24 on September 24, 2024, where the six-piece girl group was said to be reuniting in January 2025 for a new project.

Source Music, GFriend’s former agency, confirmed the news saying that the girl group will be celebrating their 10th debut anniversary. “The members’ wishes to gift a precious memory to BUDDY came together to successfully realize this project. Please show lots of anticipation and support.”

GFriend first debuted in January 2015 with the single “Glass Bead”. Through the years of their active promotion as a group, GFriend has released numerous hits such as “Me Gustas Tu,” “Rough,” “Navillera,” “Time for the Moon Night,” and more.

Their last music release was in November 2020 for their studio album “Walpurgis Night,” with the lead single “Mago.”

Since their parting ways with Source Music, “Mago” was referred to by fans and some of the K-pop stan community as the “best disbandment song”. The members of GFriend also pursued different ventures since then—Eunha, SinB, and Umji formed VIVIZ under the agency Big Planet Made, Yuju and Yerin debuted as solo artists and have released several tracks, and Sowon went on to become an actress.

The news of GFriend’s reunion project was received warmly by fans, who all expressed their happiness at the six-member girl group finally coming back together.

On the other hand, BUDDYs still do not forget how Source Music had treated the girl group during the time they had “fired” them. Others also cited how “timely” this news was, especially with Min Hee-jin seemingly being the reason for the girl group’s disbandment in the first place.

No matter what the circumstances are behind the scenes, we’re just happy you’re all coming back for your 10th debut anniversary, Gfriend.
