‘Morior Invictus: The Art of Living’ exhibit honors late child artist Aedan Pio

The life of late child artist Aedan Pio Malvar is being honored through a heartfelt art exhibit titled “Morior Invictus: the Art of Living,” celebrating the remarkable talent and resilience he showed during his brief yet impactful life.

Morior Invictus, which translates to “I die undefeated,” is a special exhibit that showcases a collection of the child’s artworks, featuring breathtaking images of the galaxies and beyond. Each of these is a testament to his creativity and brave spirit.

Aedan Pio was diagnosed with clival chordoma, a rare and challenging bone cancer. Despite his illness, the child didn’t fail to live a worthwhile life as he took the initiative to sell his artwork, with proceeds aiding frontline healthcare workers and funding his own treatments.

Today, Pio’s generosity continues to live as the proceeds from the sale of each piece will go toward funding the pediatric palliative care unit at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and the Better Days Wellbeing Center—organizations that offer comprehensive care to terminally ill children, addressing their medical, emotional, and mental needs, just as they did for him.

The exhibit opened with a moving reception at PGH on July 9, attended by Pio’s dedicated doctors, nurses, and many who were touched by his story. It was then made available for a one-day public viewing at the PGH Main Hospital Building Lobby on July 10. It was then moved to Xchange Spaces from July 12 to 23, located on the 7th floor of the Exchange Corner Building, where visitors can admire the artist’s work for free from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Pio’s courage and generosity left a lasting impact as he joined the Creator on April 27 at the tender age of 13, and his legacy continues to inspire and bring hope through this exhibit, reflecting his indomitable spirit and the art of truly living.
