TW: Gender-based violence
On May 12, a transwoman who was a customer at a local hostel in Legazpi, Albay, was harassed and discriminated against for using the women’s restroom. The owner of the hostel kept yelling and threatening to punch the transwoman in the face.

Today, I was harassed by the owner of a hostel I stayed in Legazpi, Albay. As I exited the restroom, I was continuously yelled at by the man in the video. He also threatened to punch me twice.

OP said while filming the verbal harassment, the owner threatened to drop their phone from the third floor, and his wife insisted on calling them “sir,” which disrespects the gender identity they want to express.
That was not the end of the harassment.” In my defense, I said that I was using the restroom I was comfortable with in accordance with my gender identity,” OP said.
Then the owner yelled, “You have a fucking dick! Admit yourself in a mental institution!”
While OP was on their way to leave the hostel, the relatives of the owner still called them derogatory names and were “ganging up against me” before trying to leave.
Instead of an apology, the local hostel posted a statement on their Facebook page to defend their side.
The viral post on X (formerly Twitter) sparked a debate; some sympathized, while others discriminated against the OP.
Some social media users emphasize the point that biological women’s rights need to be respected as well.
A few days before the celebration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, it is essential to spread awareness to protect the rights of both women and especially the lgbt community against gender-induced violence.
